born in Jeffreys Township, Florence County, South Carolina, probably
in 1862 as she is listed in the 1870
census (with her father's household) as 8 years old.
We find her
listed again in the 1880 census, this
time reported as being 17 years old.
Not knowing
Mary's married name makes it difficult to know more about her
life.
