David Conner and his wife Claudie

David was born in April of 1896, eldest son of James Jr. and Anna Wise Conner.

Growing up on the family farm, David was expected to do his share of the work on the family farm; and as other children of his day, he was only able to attend school during the months he was not needed to help with the crops. Thus reaching the level of a 2nd grade education (learning to read and write) was considered enough.

Inheriting land from his father, David followed as a farmer, growing food and raising livestock to feed his family. He also worked as a cab driver in Marion for over 50 years.


Annie Belle Blackwell

David's first wife was Annie Belle Blackwell. Together they had three children: Francena, Florena, and Ernest ("Buster").

 

 

David's second wife was Claudie. Together they had four children: Marion, David, Claudius, and Lee (who only lived about six months).
