This census
identifies a "black" female of 23 years of age as living
in the household with Robert Wise. The census lists this woman
as "Desda Evans", however all other data fits with our
Deedy, even the enumeration of a three year old son named Thomas
(note Thomas is listed as "white", although as the child
of "Desda Evans"). A conversation in 2004 with a cemetery
caretaker in Marion was held who spoke of Deedy's son Thomas being
thought of as "white". All of these facts clearly identifies
the woman listed here as Deedy, we can only think that perhaps
the census taker misunderstood the name, misspelled it, or that
Deedy was also called Desda.
