Allen Conner and his wife Ethel

Allen was born May 8, 1935, in Marion, South Carolina, the son of James and Arletha Conner.

As a young adult, Allen's favorite passtime was playing baseball and as the years passed his love of all sports became his passion.

Allen served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958.

Allen married Ethel L. Williams in 1958 and they moved to New York. Two sons were born there: Allen Jr. in March of 1959, and Anthony Glenn in July of 1962.

In September of 1973 Allen and Ethel returned to Marion, South Carolina. There Allen worked for Union Carbide until his retirement in 1991.

The arrival of his grandchildren was his greatest joy. Allen was a member of the Wise Chapel A.M.E. Church. There he served on the Board as a Trustee. Allen also loved planting, tending and gathering his garden.

God called Allen to his heavenly home on June 12, 1991, and he is buried at Devotional Gardens in Marion.
